In 1871, William Reid conveyed to the Trustees of the Holstein Presbyterian Church one acre of L37-C3.One of the oldest plot holders was the late William Robbie whose dwellings were on L1C14. At this time, family plot owners were responsible for the upkeep and care of their plots, with Mr. Henry Reid as supervisory caretaker until his death in 1920.
In 1935 one half acre was purchased from the late James Smith. With this additional piece of ground a new fence was erected changing the name on the gates from Reids' Cemetery to Holstein Cemetery. In 1944, directors were appointed and arrangements were made to proceed with perpetual upkeep of the cemetery at once with Mr. James Nicholson as caretaker.
Around 1978, one and a half acres of adjoining land was purchased from George Stevenson.
In 2022, a natural burial site was established with one acre of land abutting the existing cemetery donated by Don and Sharon Lewis. The Holstein Cemetery became a non profit corporation and accepted the land as a gifted transfer from the Presbyterian Church.
